Generals need love!
This would be even more funny if it wasn't so close to what we've been seeing in the past 10 days or so from the White House and the Fox News crowd who really have explored new limits of hypocrisy in their hullabaloo about MoveOn.org's smarmy ad in the NY Times. The idea that Generals exist outside of the political realm and are therefore undeserving of the same crass and often sophomoric name-calling that Fox News so often uses against Democrats is true only to the far reaches of the Right Wing. It has been this President more than any in recent memory who has so shamelessly politicized the military. Can you remember General Abizaid's wanton support for the Dubai ports deal that most of this nation not related to the Bush family thought was a horrendous idea?
Generals are human beings and are subject to the same political leanings anyone else is. Even Fox News viewers should be able to understand that. This MoveOn versus Petraeus non-issue is another one of their distractions and the video above stands as a satiric but accurate commentary on the whining we hear from Republicans who would rather wail about smears of character and denunciations of Americans they disagree with than any substantive discussion on when this war will end or why they want us there indefinitely. People are dying and rather than cover that they are trying to save their general from a weak pun.
That's Fair and Balanced, isn't it?

New Arms Race Anyone?
Doesn't the world seem safer now that the Bush administration has dabbled in pre-emptive war, occupied a country that did nothing to us, and added their own brand of poisonous rhetoric to the international debate?
